Tarnobrzeg Lake is 455 hectares of water surface, the longest beach in southern Poland and an area full of attractions. It is the second largest water reservoir in Podkarpacie and the fourth deepest among artificial reservoirs.
The reservoir is called the “miracle of ecology“ because it was created as a result of filling the post-mining excavation with water, which before the reclamation process was started, had an area of 560 ha and 110 meters deep. 90 percent of the water that was put in here was first class. So it was crystal clear. In order to maintain this effect, part of it is drained into the Vistula river every year in autumn, and it is replaced with clean water in spring. About 5 million m3 of water is exchanged!
