Lavanda Aka Levanda (1934)

Title ’Lavanda’ on photo album. Page is turned to reveal still of Lavanda walking on stage of Pathe Studio, London. Voice over introduces “something new and neat for everybody - a lady novelty juggler, Lavanda to you, and very easy on the eyes, gentlemen, too“. Still frame becomes live action as Lavanda lies on her back and juggles ball with her feet, then a (very) large playing card (Nine of Hearts). She is assisted by a man dressed in page boy uniform. At the end of the act, Lavanda sits up and smiles at camera. This section is probably the missing part of Pathe Sound Pictorial PSP 848 - see separate record for details. It also appears in ’Pictorial Revue of 1943’ - see separate record. Note: in other Pathe appearances, this performer’s name is spelt ’Levanda’. Also listed as ’Levanda’ in Gifford book.
