Its author, Diogo Homem, was a Portuguese cartographer, from a family of prominent cartographers like his father, Lopo, and also AndrΓ©, probably his cousin or brother.π
Due to his involvement in the murder of a certain Antonio Fernandes, he had to go into exile in Morocco, before returning to Portugal and then moving to London and Venice.
Not only was he one of the most brilliant cartographers in history, but he was also considered one of the most prolific.
