Bobbin Lace: Brief Setup, Core Stitches, and a Bit of Lace Identification

A tutorial on setting up your pillow and bobbins, fundamentals of how stitches are made and how to manipulate your bobbins, how to make a basic four strand braid, half stitch, whole stitch, and a little identification using existing lace. Phew. It’s a lot to cram into one video, but it seemed like it all needed to be together. So, I guess I’m going to make the assumption that you like bobbin lace, and learning (or just watching) how it’s made. Big assumption, I know, but still... Remember, bobbin lace is a multi-regional artwork that spanned many centuries. There are many different ways to make it depending on your location and time in history. This is how I learned to make it, and the most effective ways that I have found to teach it. I hope you enjoy! :) Super amazing places to shop (not sponsored, just a looooong time customer): A free copy The Encyclopedia of Needlework can be downloaded from Apple Books here (there are “prettier” not-free versions as well): Come see me on Instagram!
