Multiphase Flow and Phenomenon Analysis ∇ OpenFOAM®

How does a water reservoir work for our animals? The numerical simulation demonstrates the dripping out of the water while animals are drinking the water; not modeled. While the water level in the rectangular box decreases, air can be sucked into the box. The negative pressure (relative to the surrounding pressure) at the top, inside the box, decreases and the water column pushes out. After the water level goes above the holes, there is no air entrapment a balance between the gravity force and the pressure inside the box keeps the water level inside constant.
