Simultaneous PLIF-OH, PLIF-PAH, LII and PIV on the SIRIUS burner - Operating condition 3

This video presents the results of coupled optical measurements in a swirl and stratified turbulent flame produced by the SIRIUS burner operated under a high swirl intensity. It shows the results of Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence on OH (rainbow colorscale) and on PAHs (greyscale), Laser-Induced Incandescence (orange colorscale) and Particle Image Velocimetry (arrows). These laser techniques are applied simultaneously, enabling the observation of the interaction between the flame structure and the oxidation areas (marked by the presence of OH), the soot precursors (PAHs), the flow and the soot particles. These interactions are of interest for the characterization of the soot formation mechanisms in this type of flame. For instance, the transition from PAHs to soot particles, the transport of the soot pockets and their oxidation by OH can be observed in this short movie.
