In 1899, Ernesto Nazareth composed Bicyclette-Club, dedicated to tango “Directory of Bicyclette-Club“, an association that brought together many cyclists in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The composer portrayed this regular activity of Rio’s day-to-day: cycling, very popular habit in the federal capital in the late nineteenth century.
