Such Sweet Thunder!
After Duke Ellington visited the Shakespeare Festival in England in 1956, he returned to his desk at his home in Harlem very inspired and wrote an entire album dedicated to the work of the renowned British playwright. The explosion of Romeo and Juliet’s love was molded into a song called Such Sweet Thunder, which resonates to this day. Ellington did not imagine that many years later one of his most ardent fans, Aviran Ben Naim, would sit down at his desk in Jerusalem and write a new and stormy arrangement for said piece.
