Lyrics: ༄༅། །ཀྱེ་ཧོ། །འཁོར་བའི་བྱ་བ་ཀུན་ལ་སྙིང་པོ་མེད། ། Kyeho! All activities within saṃsāra are pointless and hollow— མི་བརྟན་གཡོ་བ་གློག་གི་ཟློས་གར་མཚུངས། ། Unreliable and fleeting, like lightning’s streaking dance, འཆི་བ་འདི་ཡང་ནམ་འབྱུང་ཆ་མེད་ལ། ། And there is no certainty as to when death will strike. ཅིས་ཀྱང་འཆི་ངེས་བློ་སྣ་བསྟུང་ནས་སུ། ། Still, since death is certain, limit idle plans and speculations, བླ་མའི་གདམས་ངག་གནད་དུ་བསྣུན་བྱས་ཏེ། ། Allow the teacher’s instructions to hit home and strike a chord, རྩེ་གཅིག་དབེན་པར་རང་སེམས་ཕུ་ཐག་བཅད། ། And, single-pointedly, in solitude, seek perfect certainty of mind. སེམས་ནི་གློག་དང་རླུང་དང་སྤྲིན་དང་འདྲ། ། Mind, which is like lightning, a breeze, or passing clouds, མི་བསམ་དགུ་བསམ་སྣ་ཚོགས་རྟོག་པས་བསླད། ། Is coloured by its various thoughts of everything under the sun, ལེགས་པར་བརྟགས་ན་གཞི་རྩ་གང་ཡང་མེད། ། But when examined thoroughly is found to lack a basis or origin. བར་སྣང་སྨིག་རྒྱུ་ལྟ་བུར་ངོ་བོས་སྟོང་། ། Just like a mirage on the horizon, it is devoid of essential nature. སྟོང་བཞིན་སྣང་ལ་སྣང་བཞིན་སྟོང་པ་ཡི། ། While being empty, it appears; and while appearing, it is empty. རང་སེམས་རང་བབས་བཞག་ནས་རྣལ་མར་སྡོད། ། Left to settle, naturally, by itself, mind arrives at a genuine state of ease, གོམས་པ་བརྟན་ན་རང་སེམས་གཤིས་ལུགས་མཐོང་། ། And, when familiarity grows stable, mind’s natural condition is seen. བླ་མར་མོས་གུས་ཆེ་ན་བྱིན་རླབས་འཇུག ། If devotion to the teacher grows vast, blessings will enter and inspire the mind, ཚོགས་བསགས་སྒྲིབ་པ་སྦྱང་ན་རྟོགས་པ་སྐྱེ། ། And when accumulations are gathered and obscurations purified, realization will dawn— དེ་བས་ནན་ཏན་འབད་པས་ཉམས་སུ་ལོངས། ། So take this practice to heart, carefully and with constant effort! ལས་དང་པོ་པ་ཁ་ཅིག་གིས་ཉམས་ལེན་གྱི་གདམས་པ་དགོས་ཟེར་བ་ལ་མི་ཕམ་པས་བསླབ་བྱར་བྲིས། དགེའོ།། །། When some beginners asked me for advice on practice, I, the one called Mipham, wrote this for their instruction. May virtue abound!
