Weekly Restroom Encampment Clean-up in Venice

On Friday, February 10th, 2023, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers, in white hazardous materials suits, along with Action Environmental Services, Inc., cleaned up homeless encampments in the restrooms at Venice Beach. Many of the unhoused have been using the restrooms as living quarters, which has caused significant health and safety concerns for both the unhoused and the general public. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) provided homeless outreach during the clean-up, and Park Rangers were on site to ensure the safety of all involved. The Venice Beach clean-ups are conducted every Friday. The sanitation workers used high-pressure water hoses and heavy-duty cleaning supplies in the restrooms, removing debris and hazardous waste. The restrooms were then disinfected to prevent the spread of disease.
