Franz Schubert’s romantic 8th symphony has been nicknamed “Unfinished Symphony“ (German: Unvollendete) because it only has two movements. The symphony was first performed in Vienna on 17 December 1865, 37 years after the composer’s death. This work from the early Romantic period is among Schubert’s most performed compositions. Johannes Brahms leaves no room for doubt in his superb 4th Symphony.
