Priti Patel joins race for UK Conservative Party leadership
Former UK home secretary Priti Patel has joined the race to become the new leader of the Conservative Party.
She is the fifth MP who has put their hand up to replace outgoing leader Rishi Sunak.
“It is time to put unity before personal vendetta, country before party, and delivery before self-interest,” Ms Patel said.
“I have done this throughout my 30-plus years of service to our party, in both government and opposition. I can get us to match fit to win the next general election.”
