I remember when I was a conservatory student (classical saxophone) and hearing him play; I was blown away by his incredible virtuosity and the beautiful sound he gets out of his instruments.
Inspired me a lot and especially his reworkings of cello repertoire (like Rococo variations) played on the beautiful sounding Flugelhorn (comes closer to the sound of saxophone than trumpet;-).
There are great trumpet/cornet players (Hardenberger, Marsalis, Roger Webster, Friedrich etc..) but what Nakariakov did/does is waaay beyond what was done before he arrived; he’s a leader in a field of one.
His performances in this clip were taken from a concert given by the Nürnberger Symphoniker in 2019 with him making a special appearance.
