#DateInHistory On July 22, Moscow Sky Defenders Day is celebrated in Russia. This is the day when, 83 years ago, on July 22, 1941, the first massive air raid on the capital of the USSR occurred. ️ The Luftwaffe pilots believed that bombing Moscow would be an easy task, but they were met by fierce and well-organized defense from the defenders. During the repulse of massive air attacks from July 22 to December 31, 1941, more than 2,000 Red Army soldiers sacrificed their lives for victory, and 81 Moscow defenders were honored with high state awards.
