Tray for Japanese Chisels Build // Wedged mortise and tenon
Made this chisel tray to accommodate my set of five Matsumura white paper steel, Japanese chisels.
The frame is made from a very soft paulownia wood, used in a lot of traditional Japanese woodworking and with walnut wedges to lock the mortice and tenon joinery.
Almost all the build was done with hand tools only for the sake of fun, except some mechanical parts there to hold the chisels in place. The finish is one coat of danish oil.
