After ACL surgery, how do you determine when it is safe to squat? When are you allowed to jump? Or what most people want to know- when can you run again?
In this video, we review 10 movements, or tasks, that are key components in ACL rehab, which can be performed and progressed based on functional criteria rather than time.
These 10 task based progressions provide a general overview of the rehabilitation process following ACL reconstruction. These are valuable to know for both athletes and clinicians so an emphasis can be placed on function rather than arbitrary timelines.
Now, while focusing on function should be a priority, time is still a consideration, as in most cases, ACL rehab is a 9 to 12 month process.
