Thousands evacuated in Australia as Sydney faces worst flooding in 60 years
Thousands of people have been evacuated in parts of New South Wales, Australia, with authorities planning to evacuate even more from flood-affected suburbs in parts of Sydney, which is set to see its worst flooding in 60 years.
Unrelenting rains have swelled rivers over the past three days in the country’s most populous state, causing widespread damage and triggering calls for mass evacuations.
On Saturday, a house was seen floating down the Manning River as flash flooding hit the area. Local media reported the home had been rented by a couple who were due to be married that day.
