60“ Rain Gong flumies Shawn Aceto Sounds

Today I took some time to play with an assortment of friction mallets from OlliHess and Bear Love. I don’t typically use flumies, especially on demo videos because they obscure the character of a gong from a purist perspective. That said, they sound awesome. This particular stainless has a texture that lends itself to be a tad bit grabby making it somewhat difficult to get them going, you’ll notice in some parts the internal pulse of the gong creates a secondary wave that pushes the mallet right off the membrane causing a little skip. You definitely want headphones for this one.
