Forging a Swedish Eye Axe: A Journey into the History of Scandinavian Hand Tool Creation
In this video I try my best to forge a Swedish eye axe.
This is a very complicated axe to make, at least for me and there are different ways to make the eye. If you saw my “Scandinavian hewing axe“ video I made what we call “socketed“ eye, which is made out of 2 parts. One “U“ shaped part oil the back and one straight part in the front. This method is the wrapped method and is equally as common as the socketed version. I write a little bit about the similarities between the Finnish and Swedish axes in the video, but I plan to do more research and when its time to try the “Finnish axe“ I want to share more of what I know.
A big thank you to Nicholas Era for guidance and information!
