Princess Mary (Princess Royal, daughter of George V) visits British coastal town; sees Red Cross nurses and firemen’s contests; 1920s? Princess arrives; walks w/ Mayor past crowd. She wears dark uniform w/ calf length skirt; small brimmed hat - from one of the women’s auxiliary branches of the military? Princess inspects long lines of nurses. A bit later a shot of a line of nurses (and student nurses?) walking past building w/ pillared facade. More shots of crowd at arrival of Princess. Note: although film quality is quite poor, we can clearly see a branch of WH Smith in the background when the Princess arrives. Firemen’s event w/ contests; demonstrations of skills; etc. Team of fire-fighters run around their vehicle hooking up hoses etc. CU Firemen accepting trophies.
