French Troops - On Western Front (1914-1918)

French Troops on Western Front (France or Belgium?). Various scenes of French Army. Opens w/ strange shot of cavalry approaching in street of town - looks like the horses are going to trample the viewer! Riders hold spears or lances and have helmets w/ sort of crests on the tops. This looks like it could be some medieval battle. Next; French soldiers w/ rifles & bayonets; running up the street; toward camera. DS men running through a field. Next; troops on bicycles ride down street; round corner; in town. French soldiers at rest in the woods; stand around drinking coffee; smoking; talking; etc. Then DS from way high up: cavalry galloping. Artillery teams man several field guns in a row; gun barrels dip downward; then back up; then fire. Shots of infantry advancing on foot across field; through tall grass. CU gun; w/ short fat barrel; a few soldiers around it. One cranks barrel until it is pointing straight up; then adjusts something; starts to lower it again. World War One; military. FILM
