crested Hawk-eagle #shorts
Scientific Name for this eagle hawk is Nisaetus cirrhatus
The Crested Hawk-eagle or Changeable Hawk-eagle , is a bird of prey of the family Accipitridae. A large, bulky eagle of forested hills. The small head, immensely broad wings, and large, often fanned-out tail give this bird the silhouette of a hawk on steroids when in flight. When perched, the thin upright crest separates this species from any hawk.
Like most other forest raptors, these birds have a long tail, short broad wings and relatively long but powerful legs, all of which impart greater maneuverability and quicker strike times in denser wooded hunting grounds than other raptorial body plans.
In Gujarat this raptor kills small prey species largely being taken such as the
Indian chameleon ,
Oriental garden lizard other lizards,
common myna ,
red-vented bulbul ,
other birds,
Indian bush rat and a palm squirrel.
Scientific names for prays are
Chamaeleo zeylanicus
