Weddell Seal Super Moms

There are some very special Weddell seal moms in Antarctica that live longer than most Weddell moms and have many more pups during their long lifetimes. These are the Super Moms. Scientists are learning more about what characteristics distinguish these super moms from the average Weddell seal mom. And as the pups of these super moms survive to return and have pups of their own, researchers will learn even more about which characteristics had significant effects on pup survival, and whether Weddell seal super moms give birth to even more super moms.
