HOLY SPIRIT
HOLY:
We derive the English word HOLY from Old English halig, (meaning: consecrated, sacred; godly), which, in turn, comes from Old High German heilag, and eventually, PIE (Proto-Indo-European) *kailo, meaning “whole, uninjured”.
The word’s etymological ancestry also shares roots with Proto-Germanic *hailaz (“whole, safe, sound”)
SPIRIT:
The etymology of SPIRIT can be traced back to Latin spiritus meaning “breath” or “a breathing (of respiration, also of the wind)”.
