Police Boys Club Issue Title Is The Young Idea (1944)

Part of issue THE YOUNG IDEA. Location of events unknown. Dramatised sequence (probably filmed in Pathe Studios London): a scruffy boy sits on kerb carving bit of wood. A policemen enters and they have a conversation. The policemen leads the boy off. M/S of neon sign reading “Police and Citizens’ Boys’ Club“. M/S of boys sitting around tables in large room, some play board games, one plays the piano. Policeman leads scruffy boy into room, all the other boys stare at him. M/S of boys reading in a library. Various shots of boys doing gymnastics. M/S of older boys wrestling. Various shots of boys boxing. We see boxing match between two small boys (one is black). Another little boy is the referee: we see him shouting commentary to crowd. M/S of crowd of boys cheering, superimposed is image of boy flexing his muscles, image dissolves into same boy dressed as soldier - suggesting Boys’ Clubs produce good soldiers.
