Balloons (1943)

Balloons by cartoonist Joe Noble. Probably filmed at Pathe studios, London. Various shots of barrage balloons floating into the sky, M/S’s of mechanisms on the ground. Cartoon shows how the balloons could be stacked above each other. Another shows how they could be more human looking, with monstrous looking face which blinks. Cartoon shows they could be in shape of clouds, but an angel with his harp lands on one by mistake. M/S cartoon of man floating with umbrella. Another suggestion is that they could be used to advertise, we see ones with “use less gas“ and “is your journey really necessary?“ on them. Cartoon makes a barrage balloon turn into an outrageous caricature of Mae West. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
