Japan is a country with a rich history, and much of its history is closely tied to religious and spiritual beliefs. Today, i would like to take a look at three historical figures in Japanese history: Taira no Masakado, Emperor Sutoku and Sugawara no Michizane. Together, they are known as the Nihon Sandai Onryō, the 3 vengeful spirits of Japan. What makes these 3 guys so interesting is that all of them did ACTUALLY exist, providing us with stories that are an intriguing mix of historical facts, as well as legends and tales, which in some cases have managed to stay relevant for several centuries. So, let’s explore not only the LIVES of these three important figures in Japanese history, but also what they were up to after they PASSED AWAY… if the legends are to be believed!
