As some stores were looted and businesses damaged following the protests over the killing of George Floyd, many peaceful protesters were joined by police in acts of solidarity. In Des Moines, Iowa, cops took a knee and stopped advancing, prompting the protesters to peacefully go home. Flint, Michigan’s sheriff Chris Swanson laid down his helmet and baton and told protesters he wanted to join them and make the event a “parade” to celebrate their cause.
