FASTEST JAB IN BOXING - ABDULLAH MASON

Welcome, guys, thanks for joining me again in this update. I hope you’re all well. So, guys we’ve just seen the young star Abdullah Mason with perhaps the fastest jab in boxing go to work. This fight he had against Desmond Lyons was on the undercard of the Loma Haney fight, so in 2023, on May 20th at the extravagant MGM Grand in Las Vegas. So he won this fight by TKO in the 6th round, and following this fight, he has extended his record by fighting a further 6 times, picking up 6 wins and 5 knockout victories. 14 fights in total and he currently sits on a high 86% knockout ratio. So guys, what I want you to take away from this highlight reel, especially some of you young amateur boxers, is that Mason has an exceptionally fast Jab, and the reason he does is that he relies on an elevated back heel to get that instantaneous and rapid injection of force to propel himself into the jab. Now, if you train to fight with a lowered back heel, you’ll possess good balance, but that is a normal position that everyone benefits from that doesn’t require training. As an athlete and, more importantly, a boxer, you need to improve your balance by acquiring it in a less stable position so that you can access attributes such as speed. When you examine extremely fast boxers such as Gervonta Davis, Naoya Inoue, and Terence Crawford, you will see that they all fight at some point with trained raised back heels.
