Davidson Seamount Exploration 2002: Deep-sea Toad Capture

This video was taken by the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Tiburon at the Davidson Seamount, located just outside the boundary of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The scientists used the dexterity of the robotic arm on the ROV to capture an initially unidentified anglerfish. Placed into a sealed container for its journey to the surface, the arrived in the wet lab aboard the research vessel Western Flyer. The science team was then able to identify the specimen as a Deep Sea Toad (Chaunax Coloratus).
