Formal, Neutral, Informal: Use the correct register in English!
The English language has such a large vocabulary, and you’ll often find several different words with the same meaning. But each word has a different effect, because it can be either formal, informal, or somewhere in between. Another name for these different types of word is ‘register’. In this class, you’ll see examples of words to choose from in different contexts – for example, if you like a film, would you call it splendid, good, or cool?
