Israeli air strikes have once again targeted Beirut’s Dahiyeh area, despite earlier U.S. assurances that Israel would scale back its operations. Early on Wednesday, Israeli military jets launched strikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, marking the first attack in this area since October 10. These strikes came despite U.S. objections to the scope of Israel’s campaign in Lebanon.
According to Israel, the air strikes targeted an underground warehouse storing combat equipment. However, reports from Al Jazeera suggest that the damage does not match the description of an arms depot. Casualties remain unclear.
The U.S. had previously criticized Israel’s October 10 strikes on residential buildings in Beirut, which killed 22 people. Despite this, the U.S. continues to provide Israel with military support while calling for a reduction in attacks on Beirut.
