Pale Jay - “In Your Corner“ [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Pre-order LP/CD: Bewilderment - the feeling of being perplexed and confused - is the inspiration behind Pale Jay’s new album. It’s a soulful exploration of a family’s gradual disintegration due to years of avoidance and miscommunication. During this difficult time, Pale Jay began to question the stories he had always lived with and re-examined his identity. The resulting work, Bewilderment, is his first full-length album, which strives to find answers to these questions and more. The album is set to release on 8/18/2023 on Karma Chief Records, a subsidiary of Colemine. In Your Corner: the antagonist At its core, the Afrobeat inspired song is a conversation with the self. An uplifting tune at first glance, the lyrics lay bare the internal struggle for self-acceptance. The song explores the push and pull between self-love and self-judgement that can often leave us feeling lost and uncertain. Lyrics: I never tried to put myself in your corner I was right there all along I softly stroke your hair sitting on your shoulder And oh my dear, I love and judge you like your mom We were in love right from the start And then we pull each others hair We cuddled up right in your heart We criticise because we care Yes, we care I am the backpack on your back wearing heavy But I also carry snacks I’m gonna tell you to sit down and do your homework Yes, but I’ll always, I’ll always have your back We were in love right from the start And we pull each others hair We cuddled up right in your heart We criticise because we care Oh yes, we care for each other Oh yes, we care Yes, we do And we’re better when we’re together Oh yes, we’re better together me and you
