Junbi undo (preparatory exercises) are martial arts specific exercises designed to support one’s martial arts practice. Junbi undo strengthens, stretches, and increases mobility to the joints, muscles, and connective tissue of the body. In addition a structured Junbi undo will bring one’s attention to one’s practice and so prepare one mentally for training. The exercises presented represent the general framework for Junbi undo. Each exercise can evolve into a more challenging exercise as the practitioner is ready, and new exercises can be added as needed.
