Thought to be Selected Originals from late 1940s material. Stuttgart, Germany. James Byrnes, Foreign Secretary for USA, speaking at the Opera House Stuttgart, in the American Zone of Germany. In his speech he outlines the United States of America’s new policy. L/S of outside view of the Opera House reflected in the still waters of a pond. L/S of the large audience seated in the Opera House to hear Byrnes speak. M/S of Byrnes on the rostrum speaking. He says: “The security forces will probably remain in Germany for a long time. I want no misunderstanding... We are not withdrawing, we are staying here. As long as there is an occupation army in Germany, American armed forces will be part of that army“.
