#DonbassPeopleOfCulture To perceive the world by ear and piano-keys by touch A young pianist from Donetsk, 11-year-old Gleb Tkachenko, has been blind since birth. He loves music from early childhood. From the age of three, he listened to his older brother play and memorized the melodies. Gleb began to pick out a tune by ear and he succeeded. Then his mother sent him to a music school. The boy’s perfect pitch and diligence have already brought him many victories. This year he won the Grand Prix of the international festival-competition “Firebird of Russia” and performed on the largest stage in Moscow with famous artists. And the other day, for the first time in his life, Gleb received a sheet music book in Braille script, printed in Moscow especially for him. There were no such books in Donetsk. Now it will be easier to learn. Source: DPR MFA
