Back with a bang! POINT LONSDALE strikes on his return at the Curragh | Racing TV

The high-class Point Lonsdale had not been seen on the racecourse since going off an 11/2 chance for last season’s Qipco 2000 Guineas, but the Australia colt made up for lost time with a very pleasing return in testing conditions to land the Group 3 Alleged Stakes at the Curragh for jockey Wayne Lordan and trainer Aidan O’Brien. He has the pedigree and run style to go up in trip to a mile and half and O’Brien has suggested a race like the Coronation Cup at Epsom at the Derby Festival - a race notably won three times by Ballydoyle’s former high-class older campaigner St Nicholas Abbey - could be next on the agenda.
