Thousands of people rallied in Schwerin on Monday evening against the German government’s policies on Russia, including sanctions and sending arms to Kiev, which demonstrators claimed was fuelling the energy crisis and sky-high inflation. According to police, around demonstrators took to the streets of the capital of Germany’s northern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Starting at the local castle, they carried placards, banners and national flags, despite the bad weather. “Some of the pensioners now pay two and a half times the price for gas, electricity - I still don’t know,“ said one participant, Bernard Gaykt. “What is this nonsense?
