Up Close with a Graneledone Octopus | Nautilus Live

Our Corps of Exploration spotted this octopus over 2,600 meters (8,530 feet) deep at the Cascadia Basin site of Ocean Networks Canada’s NEPTUNE observatory. Tentatively identified as a deep-sea Graneledone pacifica, ROV Hercules provides us all a clear view of the cephalopod’s shifting body texture and tentacles covered in suckers for grasping prey.
